Since its debut in the 1952 Tour, L’Alpe d' Huez, has been a Tour de France and cycling icon. The most famous 21 bends are instantly recognisable and have been responsible for shaping the outcome of many Tour de France more often than perhaps any other. 

The winner of 2024 Tour de France Femmes will certainly be determined in this Grand Final, high-mountain stage. Demi Vollering will fight to keep her crown. She will surely will be boosted by the Dutch supporters filling the bend N°7, now called “le virage des Hollandais” (dutch bend).

Day 1: Loop Les Deux Alpes- the Alps welcome you

Your journey starts with a warm welcome at Grenoble TGV station, followed by a transfer to Les Deux Alpes. A mid-afternoon ride on a scenic route overlooking Oisans valley will allow you to adjust to your bike, the road conditions and to connect with your fellow riders.

Daily Mileage: 28 km / + 871 m  

Day 2: Les Deux Alpes – Huez – Tour de France Femmes Le Grand Final

A 20 km downhill followed by a flat stretch will be the perfect warm-up before facing your first monument of the week. The Alpe d’Huez will be adorned in its "Tour de France dress" with road markings, filled with supporters and its Dutch corner painted in Orange. monument of the week. Cherry on the cake, The Alpe d’Huez will wear its “Tour de France dress”, road ,markings, supporters every where, Dutch corner in Orange.Climbing Alpe d'Huez (H.C, 14 Km avg, 8 % ) brings you closer to the sport. It also makes you realise the unbelievable strength it takes to be a Tour de France's pro. It will be tough, but you will feel you are wearing wings as many spectators & fellow riders will cheer you up. After crossing the line and a “recovery lunch” , we will await for the Tour’s advertising caravan and of course the Pros. Challenge of the day : try to spot “La maillot Jaune” & "polka dots" jersey to take the perfect picture. Once the "Grupetto" has passed, we will embark on Alpe d’Huez technical downhill.

Day 3 Les Deux Alpes- Col du Galibier: Tour de France highest monument

After yesterday's amazing show, we’ll ride on quieter roads. Descending "Les Deux Alpes" and Col du Lautaret (25 km at 4%) will be a great warm up before tackling Col du Galibier (Hors Catégorie, 8,6 Km at 6,8 %). First Alpine col to be featured in Tour de France (1911), this climb, is often the highest Tour de France"s summit (2,645 m). it’s a challenge that every cycling enthusiast dreams of. A few tips to ease the pain while climbing : try to spot a groundhog, think of the superb lunch awaiting us in our favourite farmhouse atop Lautaret. Once you’ve conquered the Legend you'll feel a deep sense of self-achievement. Such accomplishment will remain an unforgettable memory along with the longest uninterrupted descent you may experience (30 Km).

Day 4 : Huez - Col d'Ornon: A Forgotten Col

The previous 2 days were filled with Tour de France monuments, Today we will make you discover a forgotten col of Tour de France. Col d'Ornon. (CAT 2, 10,5 km at 6,2 %) has been featured only 8 times since 1966 (last TDF in 2017). You will definitely appreciate this quiet road that winds thru mostly forest. This climb is quite an exception in the Alps, its slopes are pretty regular (only two portions over 9%). Once atop, you will be rewarded by another home made lunch, using only local produces . We will ride back to Les Deux Alpes. You will be either reach the hotel via a chairlift. For avid riders you may add an additional 20 km and + 1,000 m Elev by tackling Les Deux Alpes” climb.

Day 5: Les Deux Alpes- Col de la Croix de Fer- Monumental Challenge

Be ready for the toughest monument of the week. Col de la Croix de Fer, was first featured in 1947 Tour de France’s edition. This "Hors-Catégorie" stands at 2,067 m. The ascent of this col can be quite deceiving (24 km at 5,2 %), as it is famous for its portion of irregular slopes (contains 3 km of of downhill & 1km at 11 %). Some Pros in the peloton call it the "leg breaker". To ease the pain while climbing, think of the Pic-Nic that awaits you at the summit and of the 20 km of downhill that follows. Bonus of the day: a slight detour and a few additional hundred meters will allow you to add Col du Glandon to your Strava stats !

Day 6 : Les Deux Alpes-Route des Travers – Sunrise over the Valley

After a quick espresso & croissant , we will head for a relatively easy ride. It will bring us to one of the best spectacle : a Sun rise over the Oisans Valley . This final ride is usually a poignant conclusion to a week filled with memorable cycling memories and shared camaraderie moments. Once back to the hotel, we'll share an "Au Revoir" breakfast, before driving you back to Grenoble TGV station.

Traveling to France, to your journey’ start

Flying to France: To minimise the risk of delays, recover from jet lag, we do advise you to land in Paris (CDG) or Lyon/ Geneva on Friday (Journey start on Saturday noon). From Paris you will then board will a TGV (high speed train) on Saturday morning. We will    https://www.raileurope.com/index.html.
