Your Journey

Conquering the Giant of Provence “Mont-Ventoux” will definitely be this weeks’ milestone. However, you will not be expected to finish on foot as Froome did in Tour De France 2016! After at least 2 hours of intense effort, not only will you enjoy an exceptional vista up to the Alps, but also a deep sense of personal achievement. Mont Ventoux is considered one of the hardest climbs from Tour de France, hence its nickname.
Throughout this week you will explore the beautiful sun-drenched countryside roads, enjoy the cicada songs, ride through hilltop terracotta villages, witness the lavender fields in full blossom and experience the slow pace of Provence and its world-famous cuisine and hospitality.

Journey Highlights

  • Enter cycling legend by conquering Mont-Ventoux
  • Discover scenic Gorges de La Nesque
  • Ride on quiet, picturesque Provençale country-side roads
  • Visit some of the most beautiful French Villages
  • Several mileages options available to suit all fitness levels
  • Enjoy Provençale market Gastronomy throughout your journey
  • Savor a 2* Michelin dinner with matching wines

Day 1 : Loop around Gordes

Shortly after arriving at your charming hotel in Gordes (one of France’s most beautiful villages), your road captain will lead you on a short loop to around the area, a perfect way to get accustomed to your bike, get to know your fellow riders, discover the Provençale roads and maybe here a few cicada songs.

Day 2 : Gordes - Gorges de la Nesque

Today's profile features a circuit around "Les Gorges de La Nesque" - a perfect balance between superb sceneries, quiet roads carved in the mountains, and a useful warm-up before The Giant of Provence.

Daily Mileage: 83 Km / 1,428 m

Day 3 : Gordes -Fontaine de Vaucluse

For a change, today’s focus will not be solely cycling. One of today's highlights will be “Lunch at Philippe's”. Have you ever dreamt enjoying a superb market-fresh Provençal lunch, while seating beside crystal-clear water flowing from the nearby spring?!

Daily Mileage: 88 Km / 1,578 m

Day 4 : Gordes - Bonnieux via Mont-Ventoux

Today is “Le Jour J” (D-day): The Giant of Provence awaits your visit. This Hors-Categorie climb (21,6 Km at 7,5%) is part of the Tour de France's mythology since 1912. Once at the top, you will be submerged an amazing feeling of self-achievement and personal victory. During the 2 hours of efforts, one may reflect, while others may simply think of the non-stop 20 km of downhill that follows. Denis Roux's tip: breath well, relax, picture yourself at the top... ensure that your Strava is on!

Daily Mileage: 124 Km / 2,913 m

Day 5 : Bonnieux - Roussillon - Lourmarin

While enjoying the great panorama that Roussillon offers, you may admire the route that you rode yesterday (Roussillon offers a great panorama over the Mont Ventoux) or take a moment to browse thru the weekly market. Taste local cheese and country bread, fresh olives, artisan honey or to sip a café on a terrace to admire the hustle and bustle of the market. The last effort is required before savoring another great market inspired lunch in Lourmarin (charming village featured in The best seller: "One Year in Provence")

Daily Mileage: 88.5 Km / 1,215 m

Day 6 : Loop around Bonnieux

A very early ride, to admire the sunrise over the "Provençale" countryside, this is also an opportunity to witness the nature waking up and at the same time rewind together the memories of the week, after a stop at Marquis de Sade castle, we will head back to the hotel for an "Au Revoir" breakfast.

Daily Mileage: 26,8 Km / 487 m
