Every year we offer our guests the opportunity of watching & riding a Tour de France” stage. 

In 2023, you will discover the extremely challenging Col de la Loze  

A few hours before the peloton you will ride on the very same route as the Pros.You will be completely immersed into the unique atmosphere of “Le Tour”. While climbing, you will often wonder if you are wearing the Yellow Jersey, as spectators and other riders will cheer you up.

During your journey you will conquer some of Tour de France’ most epic climbs : Lacets de Montvernier, Col de Chaussy, Col du Lautaret, Col du Galibier, Col de la Loze Do not forget to enjoy the stunning Alpine panorama & try to spot a groundhog !

Throughout the week, our team will provide support with our assistance vehicle. Our road captains will advise you on how to tackle best those mythical climbs and the long downhills that follow, at the same time help you improve your bike handling techniques.

Day 1 : Spin around Villar & bike adjustment

After a warm welcome at Grenoble TGV station, or at Lyon/Geneva airport, you will discover this charming Alpine village nested on the foothill of Col du Lautaret. This quick spin will allow you to get to know each other, recover from any jet-lag and adjust your bike if needed

Daily Mileage: 22,5 km / Elev + 663 m

Day 2 : Col du Lautaret & Galibier

First featured in the 1911's edition, Col du Galibier, is one of the highest summits (2,645 m), in Tour de France. After a 17 km downhill, you will discover a superb Alpine Lake : Lac Chambon. Then, the serious stuff will begin ! First, you will climb, Col du Lautaret (CAT 1, 34km at 3,85%), then the mighty Col du Galibier (H.C, 8,6 Km at 6,8 %). After a few pictures atop, you will enjoy the downhill towards our favorite farmhouse café. The traditional Alpine lunch served will definitely erase the pain felt in the Galibier. After a few “digestive” Kilometres (in downhill) we will reach our hotel, where you will appreciate a well deserved recovery massage.

Day 3 : Transfert to Chambéry , loop around the Bourget Lake

After a transfer to your new hotel for the remainder of your journey, we will ride around the magnificent Bourget Lake. Your 2 hours + effort will be rewarded by a superb al fresco lunch on shores of the lake.

Day 4 : Tour De France Stage 17 - Moutiers - Col de la Loze

For Christian Prudhomme (Tour de France Director) "It's something that we don't know, that simply doesn't exist. You go from 2 to 20%, it turns in all directions... For me, it's unheard of This pass is unique". It only appeared on the Tour de France in 2020, but this pass has everything to become a great classic of July: the length, the altitude and above all these breaks in slope conducive to the spectacle. Hours before the peloton, you will conquer this new Tour de France’s “monuments” :  (CAT H.C, 21 Km at 7,8 % ).To help to recover and ease the wait for the pros we will all enjoy a "mountain picnic. You will, then, need to spot “Le maillot Jaune” to take the perfect picture. After the race, we will head back to our hotel, where a great massage will assist your muscle to forget today's efforts.

Day 5 : Lacets de Montvernier & Col de Chaussy

“Lacets de Montvernier” translates to "shoelaces of Montvernier". First featured in the 2015 Tour de France, this CAT 3, (3 km at 8,2 % avg) will knock your socks off !  After a few kilometres of recovery you will tackle a CAT 2, Col de Chaussy (14 Km at 7,5 %. The reward for reaching the summit will be an authentic lunch in one of those typical Alpine restaurants. As a "dessert" we will end our ride with a 15 km downhill.

Daily Mileage: 38 km / Elev + 1,174 m

Day 6: Sun rise on the Lake

After a quick expresso at the hotel, we will ride to the lake' shores for the perfect picture : witness the first sun rays over the lake. After this refreshing leg spin, we will all enjoy a proper "Au Revoir" breakfast before driving you back to Grenoble TGV station or Lyon/Geneva airport.

Le Chateau de Candie

Nested in the heart of a magnificent 14 acre park with century-old trees and fountains, this authentic 14th century fortified house will be your home for the remainder of your journey. After a day on the saddle, you will definitely enjoy the breathtaking panorama of the Chartreuse mountains.

Traveling to france, to your journey’ start

Flying to France: To minimize the risk of delays, recover from jet lag, we do advise you to land in Paris (CDG),  Lyon or Geneva on Saturday.
From Paris you will then board a TGV (high speed train) on Sunday morning.  https://www.raileurope.com/index.html. Alternatively, we may arrange an airport transfer from Lyon or Geneva (additional cost may apply).

YOUR ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE

We will welcome you at Grenoble TGV station (or Lyon/ Geneva airport) on Sunday at 12:00 pm.
At the end of your journey, on Friday, we will drive you back to Grenoble TGV station, to be able to board your return TGV from 2:00 pm onwards. Plane tickets : upon booking with us, we will assist you in selecting the most appropriate flights time.

Dining

We wish to make your journey as memorable and diverse as possible. We have handpicked a superb collection of quality, local and authentic restaurants. All selected restaurants propose a genuine cuisine using local & seasonal products. Contrary to other Tour operators, ALL meals are included, with matching wines and mineral water. Although Tour de France journeys do not include a Michelin * dinner, we will host a gala dinner on Thursday evening. All hotels and restaurants cater to specific dietary needs; do not hesitate to inform us in advance. 

YOUR BIKE

We have selected some of the best bikes currently on the market.We have selected the best machines based on the terrain. For each journey corresponds a specific bike selection. Selected bikes are similar to "Tour de France peloton" machines, you may also wish to upgrade to a superior bike category  upgrade your bike. You may also bring in your personal bike, and enjoy a discount. After your ride, we will clean and maintain your bike . (same applies to your "bike" apparels).

ROAD CAPTAIN & ASSISTANCE VEHICLE

Each day, your road captain will open the road, lead you through charming villages, traffic-less country roads, advise on how to tackle the next climb and all the while, ensure your safety and comfort. As experienced cyclists, we know that it is always reassuring to feel a presence along the way. This is why a support vehicle will follow you in case of a puncture or if you need beverages, snacks, an extra layer or even wish to rest for a while.

RIDE & BÉLOVÉLO BIKE CLINIC

On most of the days, several mileage and speed average options will be available to suit all fitness levels. To provide a genuine, safe and personalized experience the group size will be limited to 15 guests per week. Come back home with many peloton, safety & mechanic tips thanks to our daily Bike Clinic

All year long, Road Captains do work very hard to make your BéloVélo journey as memorable and authentic as possible. At the end of your journey, You may recognise such dedication by tipping your Road Captains based on your level of enjoyment we advise tipping 6 to 10 % of your Journey price. Tips are shared equally within the team
